|
At Forstall Art Center, framing is the art, craft and science of enhancing, dressing and protecting the object to be framed. The entire work hinges on having an excellent design, but the best design is useless if the materials used aren’t archival. We pride ourselves on delivering museum-quality work, no matter what we’re framing. Our view is that each frame is a custom-made piece of furniture, tailored to your specifications.
DESIGN
Forstall Framing specializes in framing design. Our staff has a combined 50+ years of experience in the field, and those years have given us the skills to know the aesthetics of many different schools of art & design. Whether you’re looking to perfectly dress a family heirloom in an egg & dart style, or create a dramatic scene with a contemporary work, framed in a matte black floater, we can accommodate any style, for a wide spectrum of budgets and tastes.
CONsERVATIoN
We only offer acid-free mat boards and backing materials for the basic photograph and paper art envelope. For glazing, we stock glass in standard, UV-reflective, and Museum styles, as well as plexiglass in standard and UV-reflective styles. We use archival hinges on all items, and spacers on all floats.
Museum-Quality Fine Art Framing
Our designers have been fortunate enough to frame for many of the art world’s biggest names, and our work still hangs in museums around the globe. To complete these jobs, we employ materials & techniques not often found in standard frame shops, like strainers, French cleats, and custom-made mounts for three-dimensional works. Each job brings with it a new set of circumstances, and we apply our understanding of the science behind conservation to those instances, to create a frame that will protect and dress the invaluable, for generations to come.
